Liverpool Sound City
Off to Liverpool. The festival there was so nice! It’s much smaller than the Great Escape and it was quite intimate and the pubs and venues in Liverpool are amazing. Small and full of character, the people in Liverpool are wonderful and warm although I had a hard time fully grasping what they were saying on the first go. I played the first night at Mello Mello which is a lovely venue, I went on earlier than expected then all these people showed up when I was leaving to take the cab back…aawwwnn
Then on Saturday it was at Studio 2 for the BMA showcase in the afternoon. Karl, the sound engineer there is lovely, it was the best sound all around. Everyone I met there was so nice, Becky from Liverpool Sound City was very kind as well. Then off to the train station, then I almost missed the connecting train to Glasgow because the trains station was really really far from the other train station where I got off…I screamed and yelled and cried and a very kind gentleman held the door so I could catch it…it all worked out in the end. (In the UK, if you miss a scheduled train you have to pay a fortune for the next one, esp. the longer trips, you can’t just hop on the next one, thus the desperation). I met up with my brother at the train station in Glasgow, so everything went well in the end.

…”I can laugh about it now, but at the time, it was terrible”…
it worked so well during soundcheck, then things derailed sort of after technical mishaps and being extremely nervous…I was so withdrawn…o-m-g. To be honest I think it was one of those “i’ve been to a *reeeaaallly* bad gig once…” stories.
Some people were very nice about it, but, well, to put it kindly it wasn’t good. But today is another day:)
